Introduction to woven textiles - weaving theory and design

Workshop content

This workshop focuses on weaving theory and the use of Adobe Photoshop for woven textile design.  The workshop will appeal to artists, fabric developers, hand weavers, researchers, textile designers and anyone wishing to gain an understanding of woven fabrics and how to create conventional and unconventional woven designs.

Participants are encouraged to enrol for one of our Introduction to Woven Textiles - Practical Sessions, which are under a separate listing (see below), after taking this workshop in order to weave the designs that they have created on the lab's TC2 digital loom.

It is a prerequisite to have already attended the Introduction to woven textiles workshop - weaving theory + design (see separate listing) before attending this 1-day practical session.

This workshop focuses on the use of digital weaving technology to convert designs created in the weaving theory + design workshop into tangible woven fabrics.  The workshop will appeal to artists, fabric developers, hand weavers, researchers, textile designers and anyone wishing to gain an understanding of woven fabrics and how they can easily be produced on the TC2 digital loom.
