Workshops and short courses

Our 1 and 2 day short courses are designed to help participants upskill on their chosen subject with minimal time commitment.  Our presenters are specialists in their fields and have many years of industry experience, which they will share with you. Our range of subjects includes: textile knowledge; textile applications,  sourcing and logistics; digital textile design; knitwear design; electronic textiles; and machine felting. The courses and workshops are not credit bearing but certificates of attendance will be issued when requested.

What we offer

INTRODUCTION TO TEXTILES
This course has been designed to help those entering or currently engaged in the fashion, apparel and textile industries to improve their technical awareness and to gain a wider appreciation of the many facets of the ‘textile pipeline'.
INTERNATIONAL TEXTILE DEVELOPMENT AND SOURCING WORKSHOP
This 2-day course is intended for those in industry or retail who want to learn more about the textile and apparel supply chain from the mill to the store. The course is broken down into modules that cover the vital steps required for success in sourcing and buying textile goods from overseas suppliers.
KNITWEAR DESIGN
This 2 day short course introduces the Shima Seiki Apex Design System for knitwear. This is a specialised programme designed specifically for use with Shima Seiki knitting technology.
PHOTOSHOP BASICS FOR TEXTILE DESIGN
This introductory level short course is run over 2 days and introduces the use of Photoshop as a design tool for digital textile printing. An understanding of Photoshop functions and working with layers will be gained from this course.
DIGITAL TEXTILE DESIGN: REPEATING PATTERNS
This short course provides intermediate level Photoshop skills for textile design. It focuses on creating repeating patterns for both fashion and textile applications using digital printing technology.
E-TEXTILES WORKSHOP
Our E-Textile workshops give participants an understanding of the basic principles of soft electronics.
3D SIMULATION AND CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT SHORT COURSE
This workshop utilises the Shima Seiki 3D Simulation and Concept Development programme and enables the user to develop and visualise a broad range of products including footwear, interior design and furnishings, commercial spaces, apparel, visual art and knitwear.
