The Textile and Design Lab is engaged in research and development in areas of knit design, e-textiles, digital textile design and printing, digital supply and distribution chains, sustainability, materials development and resource development for teaching and learning digital textile design. The lab actively encourages and facilitates both academic and commercial research partnerships and will assist in project development, planning and funding applications where applicable.
The lab continues to develop its research portfolio and has engaged with numerous commercial partners including Fisher and Paykel Healthcare, Footfalls and Heartbeats, Revoloution Fibres and Parisian Neckwear. Researchers working at the TDL include staff and postgraduate students from across the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies and linkages with associated AUT research centres. The TDL has built a network of national and international research linkages. The outcomes of our research are presented at conferences, exhibitions and in publications.
Project Development and Planning
The TDL is steadily building its reputation as a specialised textile research and development centre working with local and overseas organisations. Should you have a project that you think we can assist with, email TDL manager, Peter Heslop, to set up a project development and planning meeting.
