Temporary closure

In line with the Government’s directive issued earlier this month, the lab will remain closed until Wednesday 23 April although this date will be reviewed nearer the time. Lab staff will be working from home during this period and we ask that all enquiries are sent to us via email to tdl@aut.ac.nz in the first instance.

The mid-semester break has been brought forward and extended until 22 April during which time the university’s academic staff is developing high quality online learning resources for our students to continue their studies regardless of when the university reopens. This is a huge undertaking, which will mean that our students complete their degrees within the original expected time frame.

New Textile and Design Lab video

Our colleagues at AUTV have put together another great video that highlights the work of our 2019 graduates whose projects the lab played a part in. Students’ work from across the Faculty is featured and comprises of knitted, printed and felted projects that were dispayed at the year-end exhibitions.

The video will be launched when the university reopens and will be seen on the many TV screens located around the campuses.

A big thanks to the team at AUTV for helping to promote the students’ work and profile the lab in this way.

April short courses and workshops postponed

The current circumstances have meant that our short courses and workshops that were originally scheduled for April have now been postponed until the mid-year break and will be held during the latter part of June and mid-July.

On a more positive note...

Prior to our enforced closure, the lab had the opportunity to host over 200 year 1 students from various disciplines in order to demonstrate the range of technologies and explain how the lab can support them during the course of their studies. ‘Being able to showcase our resources and some of our recent graduates’ work to our new students is always a pleasure’, says manager, Peter Heslop.
